Have you ever been in a situation where someone else seemed to get treated better than you did? Maybe they got a pay rise and you didn’t. Maybe they got a better grade on a paper. Maybe they got the credit for work you did. Maybe they got upgraded to a better seat on the airplane. And in that instance how did you feel? Maybe a bit ripped off, grumpy, annoyed. When it happens to kids they throw themselves down on the floor and shout ‘It’s not fair!’. Somehow they believe it’s unjust.
Jesus once told an unusual story about a vineyard owner who paid his people the same wage for a day’s work regardless of how long they had worked. And of course those who had worked the longest complained that it just wasn’t fair. And Jesus has the owner respond ‘Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?’
The kingdom of God, Jesus says, is about a God who gives us way more than we deserve, who gives without holding back or measuring it against what we have or have not done. I wonder what it would be like for us to live with such an attitude?

This Sunday we continue new series looking at Jesus parables where he begins, The kingdom of heaven is like… We’ll be looking at Matthew 20.
Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. We do ask that you wear a mask. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.
