The by-line on our website says ‘Where faith defines life’. All of us are trying to make sense of life, to find that ‘thing’ that will help determine how we will live. For those of us here at PBC we have found that our faith in Jesus helps us make sense of life and how we will live.
It doesn’t mean we always get it right or that life is any simpler. In fact sometimes Jesus asks us to make choices we might otherwise avoid – like loving our neighbours and caring for others.
What we have found though, is that knowing Jesus has given our lives purpose. It doesn’t solve all our problems but it does give us a place to stand while we sort them out. And part of our task, our why? as a church is to share the love of Jesus with others. We want to share the good news we have with those who need to hear it.
So if you want to hear some good news, come have a chat.
This Sunday We will be hearing from Michael Rhodes an Old Testament lecturer at Carey Baptist College. Michael will explore the question “what’s the point of the people of God?,” drawing primarily from the story of Abraham in Genesis, the prophecies of Isaiah, and the way Jesus fulfils those Abrahamic and prophetic expectations in the gospels. How will this understanding compare to the way you have typically thought about the ‘point’ or ‘purpose’ of the people of God?
Mainly Music - Wednesday’s from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is a way for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.
Small Groups are now up and running again. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
