In a recent survey of young people asking them ‘How has Covid19 affected you?’, one young women replied, “It has shown me the importance of physical gatherings.’ Last week we decided to postpone the planned church lunch due to ongoing Covid19 restrictions. Like me you may have felt a bit frustrated that once again we are unable to gather together in a more socially friendly way. Both those instances are reminders that as humans we are made for connection – we need other people. We need the presence and contact of others in our lives. One of the side-effects of Covid19 has been a rise in expressions of loneliness. As a community of faith we are fortunate to have each other and a regular place to gather and share our lives but what about those who don’t have that? What about those who live on their own? The story of Jesus is a reminder that God came to dwell amongst us, to be known by us. This week can we encourage you to think about the people who live in your street and maybe visit or make contact with someone to show they are not alone, that somebody cares.
This Sunday we will look at Jeremiah’s encounter with a potter and the insights God gave him.
