Oh, is that what you meant?

Ever had that feeling in a conversation that while you are using the same words you are talking about different things. You say one thing and they respond with an answer which to you makes no sense at all. This joke here is a wonderful example of getting our wires crossed, of missing what the other person is saying.

Jesus and Pilate had a conversation, recorded by John, about the word king. They both use the same word, but they are talking about completely different things. One was talking about power, the other about giving up power. I wonder if at times we too miss the significance of what others are saying because we don’t really hear what they are saying. So, we end up speaking past each other, never really understanding each other. Maybe we need to slow down and listen, making sure we know what it is we are talking about before we speak.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am This coming Sunday we continue our series looking at encounters Jesus has with others as told by the writer of the Gospel of John. This week we are looking at John 18 and a story about Jesus and Pilate.

It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It is also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.
