What attracts you?

All of us are drawn to other people, but our reasons may be quite different.  Perhaps because they are famous, or rich, or good looking or we just enjoy their company. Sometimes our motivations are a bit suspect – we like hanging around with someone because of what we can get out of it. Like the lotto winner who discovers all their long-lost relatives and lots of new friends. Or maybe we want to be seen with a certain person, to get the selfie, that shows we are in the right crowd. And if you are the one everyone else wants to hang out with, how do you sort out the genuine from the wannabe.

Jesus faced the same problem – people who came to see him, not because of who he is was but because they thought they could get something out of it. A free lunch, a miracle, a selfie with the new young rabbi. Sometimes Jesus challenged people about why they’d come but he rarely turned anyone away. I wonder what attracts you to Jesus or what might cause you to be attracted. Perhaps the best reason is because he loves you and wants the very best for you, regardless of who you are or have been.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am This coming Sunday we continue our series called Encounters with Jesus, looking at the encounters Jesus has with various people in John’s Gospel. What do they disclose about Jesus and us?  This week we will meet an official in John 4:46-54

A children’s programme is available and a crèche for younger children.

Mainly Music – Wednesdays from 10.00am during school terms. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It is also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
