Evil

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” is a quote attributed to Edmund Burke. It is a reminder that evil is something we need to be constantly on the watch for and prepared to stand up against. We don’t have to look far to realise how quickly evil can take root – war provides a perfect breeding ground for evil. But evil can also sneak in in subtle ways, when those with power use that power to distort truth, to take advantage of those who are weak and vulnerable. And evil loves to worm its way into institutional behaviour taking advantage of those who cannot fight back. Here in Aotearoa NZ we have seen that behaviour destroy the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and young people.

The Apostle Paul warned that we need to be constantly on guard against evil, supporting and encouraging each other to do right, because each of us is capable of evil if we aren’t careful.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It is also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.
